The villagers are lovely and very friendly, the local junior school is small, well staffed with a new, very good, English teacher. The local children all play together-age unimportant to all! The nearest senior school is in Pizarra (15 min drive) and a school coach collects the children from Carratraca. There are an abundance of small businesses here such as a local supermarket, butchers, fish mongers, bakery, carpenters, blacksmith, bank, pharmacy and more. There is a doctors surgery and of course a good selection of bars and resturants. There is also a mountain path for taking a lovely walk to the top of the mountain and paying a visit to the ruins of the old church-which, apparently, was struck by lightening just after it was built !

Fiestas are well celebrated here, Carratraca has it's own bull ring where most of the celebrations are focused. 10 mins up the road and you are in El Chorro with it's beautiful lakes. 25 mins down the A357 road towards malaga
and you can access Cartama de Estacion, Cartama, Alhaurin el Grande and Coin, 20 mins the other way and you are in Campillos. It is a great place to live if you want a quiet life but within easy reach of everything else! It
is also only 1/2 hr to Malaga airport and 1.5hrs to Granada airport.
